Missions & Outreach
"Our goal is for the saints at Covenant Presbyterian Church to wholeheartedly engage in the “partnership of the gospel” (Phil. 1:5), so the gospel would spread and bear fruit in our community and to all the nations"
 (Col. 1:6, Mt 28:19).

"Then Jesus came to them and said,
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,
baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
And surely I am with you always, to the veyr end of the age.”
(Matthew 28:18-20)

The ministry focus of missions at CPC is to provide support, communications and prayer for our missionaries and to encourage the body of Christ to get involved in the work of missions.

We love and minister to our missionaries by showering them with presents at Christmas and their birthdays. At Christmas, we also provide for any special requests that our missionaries may have for the people they serve, such as warm coats for the Native Americans on the White Swan reservation in Yakima or Bibles for the people in India. We pray alongside our missionaries for the harvest that God will provide, and help with the necessary financial support.

We support missionaries in Mexico with the Wycliffe Bible Translators; in California with Mission Aviation Fellowship; in Italy and India with Mission to the World; and in our own backyard in Seattle with Reformed University Fellowship. Each summer, we take our youth group on a missions trip either to Yakima or Mexico to help build or paint houses as well as provide a Backyard Bible Club for the children in those areas.

Talk Time
“The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born.
Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt.
I am the LORD your God.”
Leviticus 19:34

“The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith,
and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham:
‘All nations will be blessed through you. ”
Galatians 3:8

Talk Time helps meet the needs of local Internationals by offering conversational English practice and assistance navigating through life in our country. Friendly, native English speaking hosts from our congregation meet weekly for two hours with one to three post-ESL international guests to discuss a topic provided by the ministry coordinator. The weekly topics are of general interest and contain a number of questions that stimulate conversation that help hosts and guests learn about each other while improving their English. Topics end with a Scripture passage so that guests can also learn about the Bible. Those interested in participating may contact the ministry coordinator, Randy Richmond.

Sonshine
Imagine being in the last stages of your life. You are confined to a wheelchair in a nursing home, your eyesight and hearing is not what it used to be, and you may have lost a dear husband or wife. You’d like to go to church, but you just can’t. Sounds despairing? That’s where the Sonshine Society Ministry comes in.

On the first Sunday and third Sunday of every month, a group of folks from CPC descends on Aegis in Issaquah. for a time of singing treasured hymns, performing special music, reading scripture, listening to residents’ stories, leading devotions, and praying with them. Anyone is welcome to drop in. No special talents are required, just a caring heart. You’ll know you are making a difference by the smiles, tears, and hugs you’ll get when you come.

Of course, if you have a special talent, or if you’d like to practice being in front of a group. This is the place to do it. Everyone is friendly and accepting regardless of a missed note or a stutter. This is an event where all ages and families are welcome. For more information call the church office at (425) 392-5532 or by email.

Location: Aegis of Issaquah, 780 NW Juniper Street, Issaquah, WA

Men’s Ministry
“Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling,
for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose”
(Phillippians 2:12,13)

Our goal is that every man and women at CPC would know Christ personally and be committed to doing the work of  His Kingdom.

Throughout the year, the men gather to study the Lord’s Word, pray, and discuss together the implications for Christian manhood.

Women In the Chuch (WIC)
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess,
for he who promised is faithful.
And let us consider how we may spur one another
on toward love and good deeds.”
(Hebrews 10:23,24)

Our goal is that every man and women at CPC would know Christ personally and be committed to doing the work of His Kingdom.

Women in the Church (WIC) meet periodically for Bible study and fellowship to re-focus on their roles as Christian women, wives, and mothers.  They also run Helping Hands, an opportunity to tangibly serve other church members during difficult times.

Helping Hands
Helping Hands exists to support tangibly support our church family during times of trial and need.  We support our body with visits, meals, rides, etc. when families’ are blessed with new babies, face surgery, and struggle through difficult situations.

Theophiloi (Youth Group)
Young  men and women are discipled to glorify God above all else, and to grow in grace and mercy.  (Rom. 12:12)

We meet weekly in the homes of church families for worship, prayer and study of the Word of God. We will be going through the book of Genesis this year, looking at some of the profound and foundational ways God has worked redemption. Please join us, and contact Dan Robbins or Terry Ciraulo for directions to the next meeting.

Church Planting
We are committed to spreading God’s kingdom throughout the world, including Western Washington.   Pastor Stellman will be leading a congregation ministering to those living in and near Woodinville, Washington.  Families interested in being a part of Exile Presbyterian Church is now meeting regularly every Sunday. Please see http://www.exile-pc.org for details.

Small Groups
Our desire is that the saints begin to experience real community with other fellow Christians, learning together how to “seek first the Kingdom” in the context of deep, loving friendships.  (Eph. 4:16, Col. 2:6-7)

There are a growing number of groups that meet regularly in members’ homes throughout the greater Puget Sound region.

Nursery
We have a wonderful nursery set up for children up to 36 months of age.  Volunteers who have been C.A.R.E. trained are always encouraged and the schedule is put out twice a year.  Copies of the current volunteer schedule are available in the nursery for your convenience.  Please contact Ann Fullington if you are willing to serve in the Nursery.

Christian Education
The Christian Education program at CPC covers nursery through adult classes.

“For to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all that are afar off,
even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
And I will establish my covenant between me and thee
and thy seed after thee throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant,
to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee.
Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved, thou and thy house.”
(Acts 2:39; Gen.17:7; Acts 16:31)

Our Christian Education program at CPC is not intended to carry out this command for you; it is intended to come alongside you and be one of the many ways the Lord may use to fulfill His promise to you. So hold your children and our staff, accountable to the teachings we are presenting them by asking them what they are learning. We have crafted a comparatively rigorous curriculum. Occasionally I see flyers advertising youth programs at local churches and I can’t help but be saddened by them. A recent one offered a program that was expressly designed to counter the “boring” aspect of church. If we aim at making our school amusing, we may just get what we asked for: A- (without)  muse- (knowing)  ment.

Rather, it is our prayer that obedience would lead to blessing and that God would be sowing the seeds of reformation and revival in America, starting with the Church. As Neil Postman would argue, we have amused ourselves to death. The cathedrals and community churches that sat prominently at our town centers, (a visible representation of their impact on culture), have been replaced by arenas and malls. How and when did this transformation occur? That may be debatable, however, we know from scripture that judgment begins with the family of God (1 Peter 4:17).

A map of our property and the Sunday School locations is available in the fireside room in the church.

Our elementary age students spend most of their time becoming familiar with the who, what, where and when of their Bibles through reading, singing, games, activities, and memorization.

Our junior high students begin to interact with those facets through a more focused Bible study, a survey of church history, and an introduction to the Westminster Shorter Catechism.

Our senior high students are then challenged to apply their knowledge and understanding in a series of elective classes from systematic and covenantal theology to the attributes of God.

Adults may choose from a variety of classes, ranging from our “Getting Acquainted with CPC” class, to studies about abiding in Christ.

Prayer
Weekly prayer requests are distributed  in the announcements email and a printed copy is available on the information table at the church.  If you would like to add a prayer request, please contact Tim Kelly or the church office.

Covenant Presbyterian is available for weddings.  If you are interested in getting married at CPC, we’d love to talk with you.
